This is my second LaCie 1 TB external drive. I store large video files on them. I've had one for about a year, the second one for several months. I've never had a single problem with either drive. I also move the drives between three different home computers, without any problems. An excellent investment for about $150. You can get cheaper external drives, but this one is built to last. It has an extra large 32 mb cache, which speeds up writing. As a USB flash drive it works well and has a massive capacity for a good price. It won't win any design awards, but if all you want is storage, it gets the job done. The plastic construction feels a little flimsy and the cap can be a little difficult to remove. It does snap on very securely, though; you won't ever worry about it falling off. The main issues with the design are that it's wider and slightly thicker than most USB drives, so if you have two USB ports side by side, it may block access to one. On my laptop, one of the USB ports is arranged vertically, and this drive sticks out below the bottom of the laptop when I use that port. The other niggling issue is that there's no way to secure the cap when it's off, so it's easy to use.
