Kingston DataTraveler Locker 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive with Encryption DTL/4GB (Black) Immediately

Awesome. Included software allows you to segment the drive based on secure/non-secure segments, the sizes of which you get to determine. Better, I also use RoboForm2Go, which is itself encrypted for password and forms data, on the non-secured portion of the drive which plugs right in and works wonderfully with my various PC (including work!) The swivel cover works great, too. It's a great data security solution.Get more detail about Kingston DataTraveler Locker 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive with Encryption DTL/4GB (Black).

Samsung SyncMaster 943N 19-inch LCD Monitor Order Now

I've owned a Samsung 740N for 5 years with no trouble, so I decided to try this 19" 943N. Was it worth going from 17" to 19"? Yes. The 943N looks great, text is sharp, no ghosting on games (Grand Prix Legends, NOLF 1&2) even at less than the native resolution - I run this monitor at 1024 x 768 for Internet use with the monitor about 4 feet away. If you want to see more on a page vertically, without squinting or wearing glasses to read the text, a square monitor is the best way to go. Watching wide-screen videos puts black bars at the top and bottom, but the picture is still bigger than a 21" wide screen monitor would give, and they look fine, not HD, but good enough. And how often do you watch WS videos on your computer when you have a TV?

Out of the box, the monitor is way too bright - turned it down to 20%; didn't bother with the software, just pointed Windows XP Pro to the driver on the disk. The touch sensitive buttons on the front are very responsive, maybe too sensitive for some, but easy to get used to, and you only need to set it up once. The screen does tilt. but it's very tight to move, so people think it's not adjustable, but it is. Cool blue light ;-)

Overall, I recommend this monitor for users who value crisp text, more on the page vertically, rather than watching DVDs. I also use this monitor, with 16.7 million colors, for Photoshop and have found no banding in gradients like some cheaper LCDs. So far, I've had it running everyday, 8 to 12 hours a day, for a month, with no problems. It came with 1 stuck green pixel, only visible on a completely black screen, so not a big deal. Get an extra 3 months warranty from Samsung if you register online at their site within 30 days of purchase. Be sure to include the manufacture date as part of the serial number or the form won't recognize your monitor.

The only thing I wasn't happy about was that Amazon knocked $15 off the price, three days after I bought it, and they charged sales tax. What gives with that Amazon? Still a good buy, but wouldn't have bought it if they didn't offer the option to return it for full refund (unlike NewEgg, who will only offer exchange).

Transcend JetFlash V30 - 8 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive TS8GJFV30E [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] Right now

Although 4 GB flash drives can be found everywhere and manufactured by many brands, some are clunkier than others, and the Transcend Jetflash is among the sleeker ones. Shaped like a large vitamin with its rounded edges, it fits easily into even the most tightly spaced USB ports, primarily because it uses a removable cap instead of the rotating cover that some manufacturers use. Obviously, if you are prone to losing caps, then you might want to consider a different brand/model. It is so slim that you can slip it into your pocket and forget that it's there.

The black shiny case with its lime-green band where cap meets body looks cool. I consider it a stealth flash drive since it tends to "disappear" on dark surfaces. The hole for a lanyard is really too tiny to use unless you have a relatively stiff piece of elastic and good eyes; however, this isn't an issue for me since I'm more of a pocket or handbag storer.

All flash drives will fail eventually, so don't use yours for permanent back-up. I've had good luck with Transcend, and for that reason, I expect better than average reliability.

Lowest Price Corsair Flash Voyager GT 64 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFUSB-64GBGT

Let's get this right out, this drive is fast, VERY fast. I'm getting sustained write speeds of 16-18 megs a second. That blows just about everything else out of the water. At 64 gigs, it's also huge. Physically, the drive is a bit large, about 50% larger than Sandisk's Cruzer Micro drives, however, this Corsair is also 5 times faster. When you're transferring 16 to 20 gigs at a time, the speed difference is vast.

Dislikes? There's no place to store the rubber end-cap, a great recipe for getting it lost. Also, the entire drive is made from thick rubber; it's great because it's virtually indestructible, it's not so great because it is an utter fuzz magnet. Take it out of your pocket and it's covered in dust, lint and that fuzzy pocket crap. Lastly, there are no external markings saying what the capacity is; therefore if you have several drives of different capacities, (say a 16gb and 32gb) there's no quick way to tell them apart. For the size and speed alone, though, these faults are easy to overlook.

Pros:

- Fastest Drive on the Market
- Huge Capacity
- Rugged Rubber Build

Cons:

- Slightly Large (not really a major issue)
- Annoying End-cap
- No External Markings Denoting its Capacity
- Fuzz Magnet!Get more detail about Corsair Flash Voyager GT 64 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFUSB-64GBGT.

Order Logitech Clearchat Stereo Headset

Recently picked this up (locally) for about $18 to use with my laptop and was quite pleased by the ease of use, comfort and sound quality. Plugged it in.. did a Skype test with a business partner in London.. flawless and he actually commented on how clear I sounded. Tested with Adobe Soundbooth and recorded awesome narration to a video with just a hint of "S" hiss, that I easily corrected.

At the end of the day.. I've spent much more on headsets of much lower quality.
Very happy with my purchase and I'm hard to impress.Get more detail about Logitech Clearchat Stereo Headset.

Where To Buy LaCie Starck 320 GB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive 301891

Out of the box, the first thing you will notice is that this drive is heavy. Yeah, it's casing is made out of real thick aluminum, and that weighs a bit more than your usual plastic shell.
Looks good though, with it's rounded edges and the matte gray finish - very stylish, indeed.
The functionality of it is somewhat I don't really get, though - when you drop the drive, it will still be useless after wards, because the discs inside, as well as the write/read heads, are not in a shock absorbent casing, so they will be shattered, misaligned or otherwise damaged. The outside, however, will probably remain pristine, thanks to aluminum.
A nice idea, though not very new, is that the drive comes with an attached USB-cable. It is a bit awkward to store and un-store it (just yank on it real tough and it will come out, don't spend your time trying to use button that is labeled "push" ...), but it is a really nice feature that you have all necessary tools on board to connect it to any PC anytime. It also comes with a separate second USB-cable for additional power, but I didn't need that with my PC, the attached cable provided enough power to run the drive.
After plugging it in the first time, a handy little tool appears that informs you that the drive has to be formatted first. You click through a few buttons and in less than three minutes (at least at my PC, which is a very old Windows XP machine from 2003 ...), it is ready to use.
After formatting, you will have 297 GB at your disposal - the rest of the 320 GB that it nominally has is occupied by service programs, software and the like (plus, the values stated on the box are always rounded to the next form factor, which in this case would be 320 ... not 300, as would be more accurate). But that's just an observation, no biggie - everybody else does it and it is a known fact by now.
Performance is ok, not lightning fast but also not snail like slow.
The LaCie backup software that comes with it does the job well - nothing fancy and not my personal favorite, but useful nonetheless.
To sum it up:
Pros are the easy installation, the good looks (if that is important to you ...), and the novelty factor through the aluminum casing. Also good is the attached USB-cable.
The only con I have is that it is not really the smallest, most lightweight external drive you can get. I have several other external drives, with plastic casings and internal shock absorption, that are much smaller and lighter and also better suited to be carried with you (because they have the shock absorption feature ...).
So, I would not necessarily recommend this drive for the road warriors out there. But I guess that was not the primary goal of LaCie when they (or Mr.Starck) designed that drive.

Shop For TRENDnet 3-Port FireWire PCI Adapter TFW-H3PI

VIA is not the brand you want. I would definitely recommend a 1394 pci with a Texas Instruments (TI) chipset. What's my reason? I have a firewire audio interface for recording music and sound. I spent a good chunk of money for all my equipment, and upon recording I am more than disappointed when I hear hissing, popping, and a generally bad-sounding digital recording. Sony 4GB High Speed 133X Compact Flash Memory Card

Not sure why this CF card isn't more available and doesn't come up in many searches. It is a good card with a solid build and good speed. I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. When using a generic (not Sandisk extreme) CF reader, it is just as fast as the Sandisk Extreme III 4GB card for downloading images to my computer.

I also have a two 2GB cards of the same brand and they, too, are very good. For some reason I can't find the 2GB model on Amazon.Get more detail about Sony 4GB High Speed 133X Compact Flash Memory Card.

OCZ 8GB Rally 2 USB 2.0 Dual Channel Flash Memory Drive (OCZUSBR2DC-8GB) Review

It's one thing to fail to write a new block, quite another to lose the old block.

In short, before putting important data on one of these devices, you should thoroughly test them with your usb hub under the maximum power load you'll ever use since the device depends upon external power for stability. Also, you should never interrupt the power to the device while it is writing since this is an aggravated form of low power. If you really care about the data written, you must reread it all and verify it was written correctly.

What is normally called stable storage (like a disk drive) requires that the device utilize capacitors, inertia, etc. and refuse to write a block when inadequate power is available to complete the block operation. In short, interrupted or inadequate external power should not lead to corruption (only media failure should). That is, repeatedly reading a block should return either the old block, the new block, or an io error only if the media has truly failed to retain your data.

Caveat: I normally work with disk drives which are very stable. Perhaps nearly all usb flash drives are typically engineered to be unstable for cost or packaging reasons. It's not like you can find out from the product specifications :-)

I purchased eight of these devices and have tested them extensively for the last few months instead of disk drives for storage development. They have very good read performance and write performance, but unacceptable reliability for important data. I spoke with someone named Eric at OCZ technical support today, but he didn't didn't seem at all concerned that the devices can frequently corrupt even though there is nothing wrong with the flash media.

I see frequent corruption (every thirty minutes or so) when using four of these in an IOGEAR GUH274 externally powered hub, but not when using them in another hub, so my theory is the flash drive occasionally wants slightly more power than the hub is able to provide (a separate issue) and does not store enough of it's own power to guarantee a write will complete before erasing the old block.

Buffalo Technology MiniStation Metro Portable 500 GB Flex USB 2.0 and Optional Encryption HD-PX500U2/BK (Black) Immediately

This is the best portable USB hard drive I have ever found.
(1) Design - it looks great, cute!
(2) Construction - it has rubber trim on one side and very good
plastic material. It looks solid, and makes you feel safe.
(although I don't want to test it by dropping on the floor).
(3) Usability - it has USB cable built in. And it's very clean
and just fits around the drive case tightly. I think that this
is one of the best features of this product. And in fact, this
is the main reason why I chose this product.
(4) Encryption and Sync program works great. Unfortunately not in
Mac. So, this feature is only for Windows. Another thing is that
you will have to stay with fat file system that is provided if
you want to use Encryption and Sync which is built in there.
This means that the file size to be stored is limited to 4GB.
I am not sure whether you can wipe out the drive with NTFS and
use the encryption and sync features that is provided.
I don't want to mess with it. So, someone else who tried can
comment on it.
(5) May not very important, but it has a place to put the label on it
(like VHS video tape). This is great, if you have several of these.

Overall, I like this product very much. If the 500GB becomes obsolete
in a few years, I would be still using the case with 2TB drive.
In fact, I wish only the case were available separately...Get more detail about Buffalo Technology MiniStation Metro Portable 500 GB Flex USB 2.0 and Optional Encryption HD-PX500U2/BK (Black).

Lowest Price Logitech RX1500 Corded Laser Mouse

It's not too big, it's not too small, it's easy to press and not to firm, it goes up easy and comes down soft, it goes sideways without too much pressure, it does it all!! I love it so much i even wrote a Poem. I love my new laser mouse. YAY!!!!

I am a graphic designer so this mouse is GREAT when i need to move an image sideways. I LOVE that this mouse is corded, so i NEVER have to worry about Signal or interfering signals, or BATTERIES. I love that it only has the 3 buttons i need and nothing extra. I love the size and the contour. I love the side scrolling - much softer then on its cousin Logitech LS1 Laser Mouse. Both the side scrolling and up and down scrolling of the middle button is the best i've seen on any mouse. I love that i don't need to setup it up and it doesn't need any software. After having this item on my Amazon wish list for over 2 years I was thrilled to unwrap it on Christmas morning. After trying it out, however, I was sorely disappointed. I expected to have a soft memory foam like the pad I use on my bed but instead had a seat cusion that was hard and even worse than the worn out chair I was wanting to improve !!! What made me more upset was the fact we cannot return it unless it's not what we ordered or not as described. My opinion and the description are completely different things, but it never mentioned SOFTNESS w hich is what I wanted so I guess I am stuck with it. Discount Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse 4000--Dark Gray (B2P-00006)

I've had this mouse for around 3.5 years and it has outlasted my previous laptop. Battery lasts a good deal of time, 3-4 months, depending on how often I use it, and takes just 1 AA battery (also, to note, it must conserve power as I generally leave the USB plugged into my laptop). Also the mouse works great on various surfaces and fits perfectly in my hand. It's clicking is a little louder than I would prefer, but completely tolerable. The only con, is that upon trying to install the drivers on my new laptop, is that the software is not compatible with Windows 7. However, the mouse is still functional, including the general scrolling of the wheel (up, down, left, right) but has lost the functionality of the side button. Still plan on continuing use with this mouse. Get more detail about Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse 4000--Dark Gray (B2P-00006).

Cheap Corsair Flash Voyager Mini 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFUSBMINI-16GB

I have been using this for 3 months as a back up for the "My Documents" et. al. on my PC hard drive. I also use it to take files back and forth to the office 3-4 times a week. It has good transfer speed and has mechanically held up fine so far.

I really like the retractable feature that protects the contacts since I carry it in a hip pocket with keys, loose change, a pocket knife, and lots of lint. It locks in place when fully extended and is easy to get in and out of the USB ports. The lack of an LED indicator hasn't caused me any trouble since I am capable of looking at the Windows dialog box and waiting till it says its done before pulling the drive out. Plus I kind of like the fact that it doesn't draw attention to itself by flashing to alert my coworkers that I am spending time on something personal.

If in the market again I would definitely buy another.Get more detail about Corsair Flash Voyager Mini 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFUSBMINI-16GB.

Buy Iomega 34744 640GB Prestige Portable Hard Drive, Compact Edition

I've always used WD [Western Digital] hard drives but gave Iomega a shot after reading the horrific reviews of WD's unnecessary redesign of their WD Passport drives. This drive has no such problems. The cable stays in plugged in and there is no proprietary software that automatically loads and hijacks your computer like WD. The drive is barely audible unless you put your ear right up to it. The exterior brushed metal enclosure is very slick and the overall design is incredibly small, very minimal and refined so it goes along well with my MacBook Pro. My old macbook pro is able to power the drive just fine with one usb cord. In the event that you don't have usb 2.0 or a powerful enough computer to handle this latest technology, there is a supplemental power-only usb cord that is for additional power. Essentially, you would plug the drive into two usb ports [no, this won't increase transfer rates -- it's just for power].
The drive comes pre-formatted as Windows NTFS which is perfect for windows users. This will be a problem for mac users to write to the drive unless they reformat the drive per the included instructions. While Mac reformats incredibly fast compared to pc's, they can legally can only allow the formatting of drives into their own native file system, making it impossible to read/write on a PC. MAC can also reformat it as the archaic Windows FAT32 file system [thank you for your generosity microsoft]. FAT32 will allow for transfer between the Mac and PC, but it limits the file sizes to 4GB or less so that you can't transfer movie files or other files larger than 4GB. An alternative is to keep the NTFS pre-format and install "NTFS for MAC" by Paragon Software Group [on sale for $27.95 -- not a plug, I just really like it]. There are other softwares and free mac tweaks as well that you can find by scouring the web. These all should allow for your mac to read and write to the windows NTFS format seamlessly and therefor you will be able to transfer massive movie files [etc.] between your PC's and Mac.
Enjoy!

Purchase Epson WorkForce GT-1500 B11B190011 Document Imaging Scanner (White)

I wanted to replace an old Brother All In One machine and I did plenty of research about it. I wanted to buy a nice cheap scanner to replace it buy my wife insisted I spent a little more and got something nice. I came to Amazon and read the reviews of all the scanners that had the price I had in mind and I ended up picking up the Epson GT-1500 because it had plenty of good reviews and it sounded like a good buy. It arrived promptly and although I have never followed instructions because I consider myself a tech wiz, I decided to once again follow my wife's instructions and read the manual before I did anything with it. It instructs you not to install from the CD but asks you to go to the Epson site to get the latest driver so I did that. I followed the installation to the letter and about three minutes later, I was scanning my first document. It wasn't a very nice copy but I did not customize my scan because I just wanted to see it working. Once it did, I turned off my computer and went off to gather the pile of documents I needed to scan.

I restarted my computer and when I clicked on the application, I get an a message that says "Epson Scan cannot be started. Please use the trouble shooting assistant to solve the problem. Do you want to open the trouble shooting assistant?" After seeing the message, I choose yes and I did every single instruction they said I needed to do. It did not work at all. After about an hour of frustration, I went searching for help forums on the internet and many people had the same problem. They said you had to uninstall the application and then restart your machine in a safe mode. After this, you had to go and delete the folder where the application was installed so that there was no trace of it. After this, restart your computer and try installing again. I did just that and again, I got the same message. I decided to use the Paperport application that comes with the software and I was glad to see it was their latest version 11. When I tried to run again, it says the scanner cannot be started. Very angry and frustrated, I turned to the internet. I did not understand how a gadget that worked so well in the first start, was failing all of a sudden. I found this place that states the Epson software has the ability to update itself and change things around once its in place. At this point, I gave up and put my old thing back. The only thing I got from this expensive mistake was the Paperport application that I could have had for under two hundred dollars. It works great with my old scanner and the brand new Scanner Epson GT-1500 now sits in my garage properly packaged. It now forms part of my cemetery of useless electronic equipment. To be honest, I feel a little ripped off. Get more detail about Epson WorkForce GT-1500 B11B190011 Document Imaging Scanner (White).

Where To Buy APC SUA1000 Smart-UPS 1000VA for servers and voice and data networks

We ordered this UPS to replace our 10+ year old APC UPS. We are a small family owned company and wanted to save money, so we ordered the refurbished UPS. It arrived promptly, was easy to install and has worked great so far and is much quieter than our old UPS. I gave this 4 stars right now because I haven't seen how it holds up in daily use. Dane-Elec 4 GB SDHC Flash Memory Card DA-SD-4096-R This instant

Wow. I e-mailed them and they set me up with a replacement within a week. I take back what I said earlier (as follows):

It worked fine when I bought it, but I was mad from the beginning that the capacity is really 3.6GB, 10% lower than what it is advertised as. About six months after I bought it, it stopped working. When I put it into my camera, it says "insert memory card" (it worked before in the same camera) and when I tried using it in my computer, the computer saw that it was there (the SD Card drive popped up on the Computer folder) but I wasn't able to open it--if I clicked the icon it would say that it wasn't there. If I held the card in all the way (rather than letting it spring partially back out as the drive is designed) it would work, which leads me to believe that the problem is a defective metal contact on the card itself. I felt confident when buying the product (at Target) because it had a "lifetime warranty" but their website tells me that I need to exchange it through the retailer. I can't find anything about it on Target's website. I tried calling Dane-Elec but it went to a voicemail, odd for a corporation. I also e-mailed them... guess I'll see where that goes...

Look elsewhere to buy one with at least a more well-established return policy. I'm NEVER buying one of these again.Get more detail about Dane-Elec 4 GB SDHC Flash Memory Card DA-SD-4096-R.

Back-ups Es 8 Outlet 450VA 120V Immediately

This is my second UPS from APC (I have a review posted on the ES 550VA also) and I continue to be happy with their products. I am enduring a home remodel and bought my first APC UPS (an ES 550VA) to protect against tripped breakers and electrical interference from all of the power tools running on the same breakers as my electronics. These two units have been absolutely essential in keeping my equipment safe. My ES 550VA runs my desktop PC and monitor. It has reported numerous, almost daily, power fluctuations that it has compensated for and has provided me several opportunities to go and reset a breaker while the PC ran happily off of the UPS battery. Both of the UPS were plug and play with Vista for monitoring via the PC but also come with software that adds additional functionality. For my Windows 7 laptop I downloaded the latest PowerChute Personal edition software from APC (just so I could plug into a UPS and check it's status without it being connected to a desktop computer) and It also works great.

I use this 450VA model to keep my wireless phone, router, and video surveillance system running during short outages. The ES 450VA will run these devices for about 30 to 35 minutes on battery according to the PowerChute software and, when I unplugged the power to check it out, watching the battery drain via the same software seemed to support this. Both models have 8 plugs, 4 for battery backup and 4 for surge protection. There is also surge protection for a phone/fax/dsl line which I have my DSL line plugged into without issues. Finally, there is an on/off button and an LED that lets you know if the battery needs replacement. On a side note, you need to open the unit up and remove protective contacts on the battery prior to the first use.

I picked up one of these on "black Friday" for about the price of a surge protector and couldn't be happier.Get more detail about Back-ups Es 8 Outlet 450VA 120V.
