Probably faster than your camera needs (this year). The speed is useful when downloading 16 Gb of photos to your computer when you get home though. You will want a very fast Firewire 800 or eSATA reader to make full use of the speed advantage. Newer cameras (today) need fast cards for video and shooting RAW, but this is overkill for today's stuff. Next year may be different though.
