The monitor is fine once you are able to attach the base to the monitor. Both my husband and I struggled with the assembly and the misleading directions. Samsung customer service was useless. During the first call I was told they cannot stay on the phone to guide us through the process and we should refer to the directions on the disk that came with the unit. I reminded her that seeing the disk required the use of the monitor which was not yet functioning. During the second call they admitted they had no practical assembly experience - they had only the info available to the customers. Finally, our son, who is a genius, figured out a way that made much more sense than any of the company's suggestions. He popped the egg-shaped part of the base into the monitor and then assembled the two base parts. I bought this drive specifically for use with one of my Windows-based pcs. It works great with that, which I expected, and the windows software that comes with the drive is also wonderful and most welcome.

I did not, however, expect that it would work with my Macbook 1.83 gHz Core2 Duo. My internal optical drive is dying, and while it's pretty easy to use a network drive for installs and stuff, it's definitely not as convenient to go back and forth to the other desk. The documentation and all but one of the reviews were pretty clear that this was not a Mac-friendly product, so I was pleasantly surprised when the Mighty MacBook jumped right on playing the music cd in the drive.

I was even MORE surprised when it burned a DVD under the native/finder/disk burning application (no third party software involved at all).

And I was elated to learn that LightScribe had free downloads for the Mac, but I didn't really expect them to work in Snow Leopard.

Low Price Genius Colorpage-SF600 Sheet fed Scanner

This scanner is very good for the money. I'd give a 5 star but I notice it tends to stop scanning after about 5 pages then will not scan. I then have to restart my laptop and rescan. Can resolve by scanning only 2 pages, saving, scanning another 2, etc. A little annoying but again Staples charges $200 for similar product so I can deal with the kinks.............Get more detail about Genius Colorpage-SF600 Sheet fed Scanner.
