Buying Corsair Flash Voyager 64 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFUSBHC-64GB

I purchased this drive because I like rubber casings, and am bothered by the typical chintzy feeling flash drive. The casing feels very nice, and it has a very sturdy feel. The cap fits well on the drive and is held in place by having a tight rubber cap, which is not likely to wear out or get loose.Get more detail about Corsair Flash Voyager 64 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFUSBHC-64GB.

Buy Iomega 34744 640GB Prestige Portable Hard Drive, Compact Edition

I've always used WD [Western Digital] hard drives but gave Iomega a shot after reading the horrific reviews of WD's unnecessary redesign of their WD Passport drives. This drive has no such problems. The cable stays in plugged in and there is no proprietary software that automatically loads and hijacks your computer like WD. The drive is barely audible unless you put your ear right up to it. The exterior brushed metal enclosure is very slick and the overall design is incredibly small, very minimal and refined so it goes along well with my MacBook Pro. My old macbook pro is able to power the drive just fine with one usb cord. In the event that you don't have usb 2.0 or a powerful enough computer to handle this latest technology, there is a supplemental power-only usb cord that is for additional power. Essentially, you would plug the drive into two usb ports [no, this won't increase transfer rates -- it's just for power].
The drive comes pre-formatted as Windows NTFS which is perfect for windows users. This will be a problem for mac users to write to the drive unless they reformat the drive per the included instructions. While Mac reformats incredibly fast compared to pc's, they can legally can only allow the formatting of drives into their own native file system, making it impossible to read/write on a PC. MAC can also reformat it as the archaic Windows FAT32 file system [thank you for your generosity microsoft]. FAT32 will allow for transfer between the Mac and PC, but it limits the file sizes to 4GB or less so that you can't transfer movie files or other files larger than 4GB. An alternative is to keep the NTFS pre-format and install "NTFS for MAC" by Paragon Software Group [on sale for $27.95 -- not a plug, I just really like it]. There are other softwares and free mac tweaks as well that you can find by scouring the web. These all should allow for your mac to read and write to the windows NTFS format seamlessly and therefor you will be able to transfer massive movie files [etc.] between your PC's and Mac.
Enjoy!

Purchase Epson WorkForce GT-1500 B11B190011 Document Imaging Scanner (White)

I wanted to replace an old Brother All In One machine and I did plenty of research about it. I wanted to buy a nice cheap scanner to replace it buy my wife insisted I spent a little more and got something nice. I came to Amazon and read the reviews of all the scanners that had the price I had in mind and I ended up picking up the Epson GT-1500 because it had plenty of good reviews and it sounded like a good buy. It arrived promptly and although I have never followed instructions because I consider myself a tech wiz, I decided to once again follow my wife's instructions and read the manual before I did anything with it. It instructs you not to install from the CD but asks you to go to the Epson site to get the latest driver so I did that. I followed the installation to the letter and about three minutes later, I was scanning my first document. It wasn't a very nice copy but I did not customize my scan because I just wanted to see it working. Once it did, I turned off my computer and went off to gather the pile of documents I needed to scan.

I restarted my computer and when I clicked on the application, I get an a message that says "Epson Scan cannot be started. Please use the trouble shooting assistant to solve the problem. Do you want to open the trouble shooting assistant?" After seeing the message, I choose yes and I did every single instruction they said I needed to do. It did not work at all. After about an hour of frustration, I went searching for help forums on the internet and many people had the same problem. They said you had to uninstall the application and then restart your machine in a safe mode. After this, you had to go and delete the folder where the application was installed so that there was no trace of it. After this, restart your computer and try installing again. I did just that and again, I got the same message. I decided to use the Paperport application that comes with the software and I was glad to see it was their latest version 11. When I tried to run again, it says the scanner cannot be started. Very angry and frustrated, I turned to the internet. I did not understand how a gadget that worked so well in the first start, was failing all of a sudden. I found this place that states the Epson software has the ability to update itself and change things around once its in place. At this point, I gave up and put my old thing back. The only thing I got from this expensive mistake was the Paperport application that I could have had for under two hundred dollars. It works great with my old scanner and the brand new Scanner Epson GT-1500 now sits in my garage properly packaged. It now forms part of my cemetery of useless electronic equipment. To be honest, I feel a little ripped off. Get more detail about Epson WorkForce GT-1500 B11B190011 Document Imaging Scanner (White).
